THANK YOU!

Onigegewura is one month old today. And what a month it has been. With your support, the conceptual experiment is becoming a success story. The stories have been read and shared by thousands across almost every social media platform.

The MKO Abiola/Afe Babalola’s story has been read more than 13,000 times. Ejigbadero’s story was read 10,000 times within 48 hours. In 72 hours, 9,000 people read Olusegun Awolowo’s story. The Awujale’s story has been read more than 5,000 times. In all, you have viewed the Onigegewura Blog 100, 323 times in one month! And these figures do not include those who copied the stories and shared them on WhatsApp, Facebook and other blogs.

I thank you for your support. I am not ungrateful.

The last one month has also proved to be a great learning experience for me. Your feedbacks on each story have been so educative and informative. I have learnt more about each of the protagonists of the stories I wrote about. I thank you.

It is clear to me that by writing and teaching our own history, we can rediscover our proud heritage and revive our cultural values. By celebrating our genuine heroes and condemning the villains, we can start a movement of ethical rebirth for this great Nation. To my mind, this generation is destined to chart a new path for our fatherland.

As a token of my appreciation and to encourage a revival of our history, Onigegewura will be donating books and other materials on Nigerian History to the readers of this blog on regularly basis.

I will be announcing the modalities for distributing the first set of the materials later this week.

Please follow Onigegwura at Facebook.com/onigegewurablog.

Once again, I thank you most warmly.

Olanrewaju Onigegewura©

PS: I encourage my beloved readers to always identify Olanrewaju Onigegewura© as the author of these stories when they ‘Forward As Received’. There is something called copyright in law. Let’s change the future of this Great Nation together. We can do it!

  12. Kudos Onigegewura, I am a lover of history though a medical doctor and always wondered why its easy to know American and other western history easily as compared to my own Nigerian history(maybe because it's taught in schools right from kindergarten and not only reserved for those taking history courses). I stumbled on your blog by a whatsapp link to your piece on the case of the Governor and 2 premiers and I have been hooked ever-since. I also love the way you present the history as facts without sentiments which can allow such views be challenged and you not labelled partial or biased(pls keep this in mind when enlarging your writing scope)
Pls heed those asking you to collaborate with nollywood and kindly widen your scope to eastern and northern Nigeria even as I realize that's alot to ask for in our present day Nigeria.
May the golden pen never be stolen.
