Answer to Photo Quiz

Chief Emmanuel Olufemi OLUFUNWA, Commissioner of Police, Western Region

Many thanks for your attempts at identifying the senior police officer in the photograph posted yesterday.

If the correct answer were to be picked by the number of times a name was mentioned, the answer would have been Sunday Adewusi, followed by Kam Salem. Right? Wrong!

The correct answer is Emmanuel Olufemi Olufunwa, former Commissioner of Police, Western Region.

Pa Olufunwa from Odogbolu had a distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force. On June 11, 1960, on the occasion of the Celebration of Her Majesty’s Birthday, the Queen of England conferred on him the Colonial Police Medal.

He was part of the Federal Government Delegation sent to dialogue with Col Odumegwu-Ojukwu on the eve of the Nigerian Civil War.

In 1979, the then Head of State, General Olusegun Obasanjo conferred Chief Olufunwa with the National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON) for his services to the Nation.

Of all the respondents, the nearest answer was provided by Mayowa Akinsola. Though Mayowa did not provide the full name, he mentioned the former COP’s surname and designation.

Congratulations, Mayowa! Please send a mail to us for your prize.

Many thanks to the Olufunwa Family for granting Onigegewura the right to use the photographs.

I thank you all and I wish you a fantastic week ahead!
